GET INTO 'CREATIVE HEADSPACE'

There is no big secret to getting into ‘creative headspace’.

You need to find what works for you – what allows your mind to relax and therefore be open to inspiration.

Pick one of these ideas as a starting point. Adapt it if you need to.

Browse an art gallery for an hour.

Go for a long walk in nature.

Have a long bath with candles and nice music.

Watch a film you wouldn’t normally watch.

Do some gardening.

Tidy your Monica cupboard — yes, really!

Listen to a guided meditation.

Make a cup of tea and look out the window for a while.

Doodle on a large sheet of paper.

Bake something you’ve never baked before.

Go for a cup of tea with a friend.

Read your favourite novel again.

Put on some classical music and lie on the sofa listening.

Clean like you’ve never cleaned before!

Write a To-Do list and offload the pressure.

Sit in a café and people-watch.

Take a long, slow drive.

Take a wee wander through your local botanical gardens.

Have a wee dram of whisky!

Play a board game.

Take yourself to the cinema, alone.

Write a letter/ postcard and post it.

Look through some old photos.

Take a wee nap under a lovely soft blanket.

Walk to the top of a mountain to admire the view.

Feed the ducks at your local park.

Take a walk round a graveyard — yes really!

Swim a few lengths.

Visit an old neighbour and listen to them.

Watch life through a child’s eyes.

Tidying is definitely one of my faves. I’d love to know what works for you!
